Built 1865-1871 by Auguste-Joseph Magne, replacing a former theatre (built 1794-1795 by Thoribel and Chartier, destroyed by fire on 4-5 Dec 1865). Ceiling painting by Jules Eugène Lenepveu. Opened 11 Nov 1871. Originally 1160 seats. In the 1900s converted into a cinema (Grand Cinéma). Later reconverted into a live theatre. (English)
