Musician, lighting enthusiast and entrepreneur, Pasquale "Paky" Quadri was among the first to recognize the potential that technological innovation could bring to the world of entertainment lighting. In the early 70s his passion for music and visual effects led him to experiment with new ways of enhancing live performances.Together with his friend and fellow musician Claudio Paredi, whose nickname "Clay" would later become part of the company name, he began exploring projection effects for live shows: not satisfied with the dim lighting available to traveling musicians, they started bringing a standard projector to their gigs, customizing it with an oil-based liquid wheel for a psychedelic touch.In August 1976, 50 years ago, Claypaky was founded, beginning a long period of research which led to a new generation of unprecedented lighting effects.
