National Theatre of Iceland, built by Guðjón Samúelsson. Opened 20 April 1950. The complex contains three halls: Main Stage (500 seats), Workshop Stage (150 seats) and Small Stage (100 seats). Used for performances of new Icelandic plays, new foreign plays, Icelandic and foreign classics, musicals, operas and children's plays. (English)
