Opened 19 Oct 1940 as a cinema. 1957 purchased by the city of Villingen. Subsequently used as a cinema and a live theatre. 1971 major rebuilding, extension by a foyer and functional rooms. 1998 stage house rebuilding. The complex comprises a main theatre hall (684 seats) and a smaller multi-purpose hall. Used as a guest venue for opera, musical, ballet, and drama performances by touring companies. (English)
