Bio

Caroline Mathieu works as a designer for theatre productions. Her role takes various forms: lighting designer, scenographer, performer and researcher. After studying Product Development and obtaining a Master's degree in Theatre Studies, design, styling and theatre came together in the Scenography programme at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. She has worked as a lighting designer for Lisbeth Gruwez, Mercedes Dassy, Vera Tussing, Igor Shyshko & Tale Dolven, Alexander Vantournhout and OperaBalletVlaanderen, among others. In 2025, she obtained her PhD in the Arts at the Brussels Arts Platform (VUB/RITCS) with the installation LUMINAL, in which light plays the leading role.
