Municipal opera house, built 1932 by Arthur Brown Jr. and G. Albert Lansburgh. Opened 1932. 1993 major renovations. 3126 seats (+ 200 standing). Named to commemorate all those who served in World War I. Venue of the 1945 United Nations San Francisco Conference (however, the UN Charter was signed in the nearby Herbst Theatre). Operated as part of the San Francisco War Memorial & Performing Arts Center. Home to San Francisco Opera and San Francisco Ballet. (English)
