Built 1766 by Thomas Patey. Alterations in 1790, 1800, 1853, 1881. 1903 new façade and iron portico by W. Skinner. Alterations in 1943, 1944-1948, 1949, 1951. 18th century stagehouse and machinery completely demolished in 1972. 1973 rebuilding of stagehouse, new entrance through the adjacent Coopers' Hall, demolition of the 1903 theatre façade, extension by the New Vic studio theatre by Peter Moro. 2012 and 2016-2018 rebuilding, demolition of Peter Moro's contributions. Since 1946, home to the Bristol Old Vic Company. 668 seats. (English)
