E’ un bellissimo teatro neo­classico, eretto dall’architetto Luigi Canonica sull’area di al­tro teatro risalente al 1668. Inaugurato nel 1810, è stato più volte restaurato nel corso dell’ottocento ed è oggi la sede di apprezzate stagioni liriche, di concerti, di spettacoli di prosa e del Festival pianistico intitola­to ad Arturo Benedetti Miche­langeli (in alternanza con il Teatro Donizzetti di Bergamo).
