Eretto dall’architetto Barnaba Panizza nel 1855, ha subito numerosi restauri e rifacimenti. L’ultima ricostruzione, successiva alle distruzioni belliche, è stata portata a termine nel 1949. Appartiene ad una società privata ed ha una capienza di 2000 posti circa.E’ il teatro più ampio di cui dispone oggi la città; il teatro dove fanno tappa le maggiori compagnie di rivista e di prosa e di cui si servono anche il Teatro Stabile di Torino per i suoi spettacoli più grandiosi e l’Ente Autonomo Teatro Regio per manifestazioni popolari (Italian)
