Les lampes étaient disposées de manière à pouvoir éclairer avec leur lumière naturelle ou projeter sur les objets environnants, pour la production de certains effets spéciaux, des rayons rouges ou bleus. Ce dernier résultat était obtenu en faisant passer la lumière de chaque lampe à travers un écran de gélatine colorée qu'il était facile de faire arriver devant la lampe au moment voulu. (French)

The lamps were arranged so that they could illuminate with their natural light or project red or blue rays onto the surrounding objects to produce certain special effects.This latter result was achieved by passing the light from each lamp through a coloured gelatine screen that could easily be placed in front of the lamp when required.
