Built 1903 by J. B. McElfatrick & Son and Isreals & Harder for Henry B. Harris. Opened 19 Oct 1903 with Cousin Kate (featuring Ethel Barrymore). 1048 seats. 1934-1937 used as a radio studio by CBS. Since 1939 operated by the Shubert Company, since 1944 by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. 1950 bought by NBC. Subsequently used for NBC's TV shows, Broadway Open House (1950-1954) and The Tonight Show (1954-1959). 1960-1968 again used as a theatre. 1968 renamed Avon-Hudson and used as a porn cinema. 1981 renamed Savoy and used as a discotheque. 1987 converted into a conference center, renamed Hotel Macklowe Conference Center. Later refurbished to its 1903 appearance and re-renamed Hudson Theatre at the Millennium Hotel Broadway. (English)
