E’ un elegante teatro storico, eretto su progetto dell’architetto Carlo Sada, con modifiche del’architetto Andrea Scala, fra il 1874 e il 1890. Fa parte dei “teatri di tradizione” e vi vengono annualmente organizzate importanti stagioni liriche e concertistiche. Appartiene al Comune e ha una capienza di 2.000 posti circa. (Italian)

Built 1880-1887 by Andrea Scala and Carlo Sada. Ceiling painting by Ernesto Bellandi, painted curtain by Giuseppe Sciuti. Named in hounour of the Catania-born composer, Vincenzo Bellini (1801-1835). Opened 31 May 1890 with Bellini's Norma (after three years of waiting after completion, due to a cholera epidemic). Used for opera performances and concerts. 1300 seats. (English)
