Opened 1830 in the Kleindienstscher Saal, also known as Theaterlokal. 1920-1922 major rebuilding. Re-opened 30 Jan 1922 as Stadttheater. 1945-1954 home to a resident drama ensemble. From 1969 operated as Kreiskulturhaus (district house of culture). 1990 renamed Stadttheater. (English)
