-Fu eretto nel biennio 1856-57 sull’area dell’antico Teatro degli Obizzi, distrutto da un incendio nel 1769. Restaurato nel 1873, è stato successivamente completamente ricostruito nel biennio 1912-13 su disegno di Fausto Finzi e Antonio Mazza. Attualmente è utilizzato come cinematografo e appartiene ad ima società privata. (Italian)

Re-opened 8 June 1884 as Teatro Verdi, named in honour of the Italian opera composer, Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901). Currently used for drama performances by the Teatro Stabile del Veneto company. 700 seats. (English)

Note

Antico teatro storico ei’etto nel quadriennio 1748-51 dall’architetto Antonio Cugini. Abbellito e ampliato in seguito, fu completamente rifatto nel 1845 dall’architetto Giuseppe Japelli di cui si ammira ancora oggi la bella facciata. L’interno è stato completamente rifatto nel 1877 su disegno dell’architetto Achille Sfondrini e restaurato dopo i danni bellici del 1917. Ha una capacità di 938 posti e appartiene al Comune. E’ uno dei due teatri veneti facenti parte del circuito ETI. Nella capace sala del ridotto è stato costruito un piccolo teatro per le rappresentazioni del complesso teatrale universitario. Recentemente, è stato compieta- mente demolito per far posto ad un fabbricato destinato ad ospitare (Italian)
