Opened 23 Aug 1784 as Théâtre Beaujolais. 1790 renamed Théâtre Montansier, 1793 renamed Théâtre du Péristyle du jardin Égalité, 1794 renamed Théâtre de la Montagne, 1795 renamed Montansier-Variétés. Closed 1806. 1812-1820 operated as Café de la Paix. Re-opened 6 June 1831 as Théâtre du Palais-Royal. 1880 rebuilding by Paul Sédille. 716 seats. (English)
