Built 1901 by Frank Matcham, replacing the Floral Hall. Opened 17 June 1901 as Leicester Palace Theatre of Varieties. 1931-1946 used as a full time cinema, 1937 also used for an ice skating show. From 1946, again used as a live theatre. 3000 seats. Closed 21 Feb 1959. Subsequently demolished in favour of retail buildings. (English)
