Built 1955-1959 by Frank Lloyd Wright as one of his last works. Opened 27 Dec 1959 with Thomas Wolfe's Of Time and the River. Named in honour of the American actress Kalita Humphreys (1914-1954) who had died in a plane crash in 1954. As a memorial, her parents gave a substantial donation towards the construction of the theatre. 497 seats. 1959-2009 home to the Dallas Theater Center. Since 2009 still used as a venue by that company. (English)
