Opened 1786 as Theatre Français sur l'Erwtemarkt (Franse Schouwburg). Later renamed Neues Deutsches Theater. From 1856 used as a church, later as a college lecture hall and for religious and political meetings. 1947 re-opened as a theatre named De Kleine Komedie. 1973 closed to safety concerns. Subsequently renovated and re-opened 1978. (English)
