Great Stone Theatre, built 1783 by Antonio Rinaldi. 1802 rebuilding by Thomas de Thomon. Damaged by fire in 1811. Subsequently rebuilt, re-opened 1818. 1826-1836 rebuilding by Alberto Cavos. Closed 1886 due to safety concerns. Demolished in favour of the Sankt-Peterburg conservatory (which still contains the theatre's staircase). (English)
