After the conference, used as a cultural centre. Closed 1973 during the Pinochet regime. Later used as convention centre and Ministery of Defence. Damaged by fire in 2006. Subsequently rebuilt as a cultural centre. 2010 reopened as Centro Cultural Gabriela Mistral (GAM), named in honour of the Chilean writer and diplomat, Gabriela Mistral (1889-1957). (English)
