Era uno dei più illustri teatri italiani, per tradizioni storiche e per bellezza architettonica. Costruito nel triennio 1738-40 dall’architetto Benedetto Alfieri e più volte restaurato e rinno vato, è stato completamente distrutto da un incendio nella notte dell’8-9 febbraio 1936. Attualmente è in avanzata fase di ricostruzione su nuovo progetto dell’architetto Carlo Mollino. Ultimato, disporrà di una sala maggiore con 1800 posti, di un auditorium con 500 posti e di una piccola sala con 302 posti. (Italian)
