+E’ un bellissimo teatro neoclassico, eretto dall’architetto Luigi Canonica sull’area di altro teatro risalente al 1668. Inaugurato nel 1810, è stato più volte restaurato nel corso dell’ottocento ed è oggi la sede di apprezzate stagioni liriche, di concerti, di spettacoli di prosa e del Festival pianistico intitolato ad Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli (in alternanza con il Teatro Donizzetti di Bergamo). +Built 1739 by Carlo Manfredi for the Accademia degli Erranti. 1761-1769 addition of a concert hall (Sala del Ridotto) and foyer by Antonio Marchetti with paintings by Francesco Battaglioli, Francesco Giugno, and Pietro Scalvini. 1789 façade rebuilding by Gaspare Turbini. 1806 major interior rebuilding by Luigi Canonica. 1862 alteration of auditorium design by Gerolamo Magnani, ceiling painting by Luigi Campini. 1904 alterations of the upper two balconies.
