Reconstruction of the previous Teatro del Sole of 1637 (English)

Antico teatro storico, eretto nel 1637 dal celebre scenotecnico Nicola Sabbatini e rinnovato nel 1695 dairarch. Pietro Mauro. Completamente ricostruito nel 1818 a cura dell’arch. Pietro Ghinelli, è stato restaurato nel 1855 (architetto Vincenzo Ghinelli) e nel 1934 (architetto Rutilio Ceccolini). Nel 1963 ha subito lavori di consolidamento e il rinnovo della copertura sul palcoscenico. Nonostante tali lavori, per riscontrata inagibilità della sala, il teatro è stato chiuso nel 1966 ed è ora in attesa di radicale restauro. Appartiene al Comune ed ha una capienza di 1000 posti circa.
