Built 1896-1897 by Ferdinand Fellner & Hermann Helmer for Saalbauverein AG Ravensburg, a society founded and funded by Julius Spohn and other citizens, replacing the medieval wine press Raueneggtorkel . Opened 14 Nov 1897 with Oscar von Rebwitz-Schmölz's drama Der Zunftmeister von Nürnberg . 1899 stagehouse extended by Ferdinand Fellner. 1938 rebuilding plans (not carried out). (English)
